Speaker: Congming Li
Bio: Dr. Li received his B.S. degree in 1982 from the University of Science and Technology of China and the M.S. degree in 1984 from the Institute of System Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1989 from the Courant Institute, New York University. His research areas include Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, Calculus of variations, Geometric Analysis, Nonlinear Analysis and Dynamics of Fluid.
Abstract:
Here, we give a brief introduction of some methods, problems involved and related results on qualitative analysis of some nonlinear elliptic type PDEs. We focus on maximum principles, Liouville type theorems, classification of solutions.
We start with some recent work on the incompressible Navier-Stokes and Euler equations and give a short introduction of some related methods, and some results with applications. Then, we study the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev system and curvatures related geometric equations as examples to illustrate the ideas, methods and possible applications.
